Google Chat integration

Updated at: 2 min read

Notifications from Intum go straight to a Google Chat space. You can connect one or many spaces and send messages automatically.

What you get

  • Send messages to any number of Google Chat spaces
  • Each space is a separate channel with a custom name
  • A Test button next to each channel
  • Configuration is just pasting a single URL

Installation

  1. Go to Account Settings -> Apps & Add-ons
  2. Find Google Chat Integration and click Install
  3. The app is available in Organization -> Settings

Where to get the webhook URL

  1. Open the space in Google Chat
  2. Select Apps and integrations
  3. Click Add webhook, name it (e.g. “Intum”)
  4. Copy the generated URL

Adding a channel in Intum

  1. Open the Google Chat Integration app
  2. Enter a Channel name (optional)
  3. Paste the webhook URL
  4. Click Add channel

Test sending

Click Test next to a channel, type a message, click Send to Google Chat.

Multiple spaces

Add as many channels as needed. Each gets a code (google_chat1, google_chat2…) for addressing.

Removing a channel

Click the channel name, then Delete connector at the bottom.

FAQ

Can I change the space? Delete the old channel and add a new one.

Can I send to a thread? Yes, if the webhook URL contains a threadKey parameter.
