Knowledge Base Categories
Categories allow you to organize entries into logical groups. In the public view of the knowledge base, categories are displayed in the sidebar navigation.
Tree Structure
Categories can be nested — a parent category can have subcategories (one level deep). This helps organize content better.
Category Properties
- Name — displayed in navigation
- Description — additional text
- URL — slug (unique within the knowledge base)
- Priority — display order (changed with up/down arrows)
- Private — visible only to logged-in users with permissions
- Knowledge Base — which knowledge base it belongs to
- Parent Category — optional (for subcategories)
- Image — optional category image
Entry Order
Within a category, you can set the default entry display order — e.g., by priority, creation date, title. If not set, the order from the knowledge base settings is used.
Privacy
A private category is visible only to users with permissions. Subcategories of a private category inherit the privacy setting.
API Documentation
A category can have a content_api field — technical documentation displayed in an API context.
